As the 20th edition of ICOTY and IMOTY unfolded, anticipation was high for notable winners, and the results did not disappoint. In the car segment, the Mahindra Thar Roxx took the crown, marking a significant milestone for the automotive company. For motorcycles, the Aprilia RS 457 distinguished itself as the leader of its class. Other prominent winners included the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, achieving accolades for its luxury and performance, while the MG Windsor was recognized for its innovative approach to sustainability.
The esteemed judging process for these awards involved a well-rounded panel consisting of 28 industry experts from leading automotive publications. These professionals assessed each contender based on various fundamental criteria including design, pricing strategy, fuel efficiency, safety features, overall performance, and innovative attributes, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of every nominee.
2025’s ICOTY Winner: Mahindra Thar Roxx
The Mahindra Thar Roxx triumphed as the Indian Car of the Year for 2025, securing a prestigious position in the market. The Maruti Suzuki Dzire emerged as the runner-up, demonstrating strong competition. Other finalists vying for the ICOTY title included notable vehicles such as BYD eMAX 7, Citroen Basalt, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Maruti Suzuki Swift, MG Windsor, Tata Curvv/Curvv EV, and Tata Punch EV, reflecting a diverse range of options that catered to varying consumer preferences.
2025’s IMOTY Winner: Aprilia RS 457
The Indian Motorcycle of the Year award was clinched by the Aprilia RS 457, with the Hero Xtreme 125R serving as the runner-up. The Aprilia RS 457 showcased impressive capabilities and high-performance metrics that distinguished it from its peers in the motorcycle category. Its blend of innovative technology and design drew favorable reviews, culminating in its coveted title.
Recognition in Special Categories
The Premium Car Award was established in 2019 to reflect increasing consumer interest in luxury automobiles and this year it was awarded to the highly prestigious Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Meanwhile, the MG Windsor was recognized for its commitment to green technology and was named the Green Car winner. This recognition reflects the growing shift in the automotive industry towards more sustainable practices.
