KEY POINTS

The iPhone 17 Pro maintains its triple-camera configuration, similar to the iPhone 16 Pro, but sports a revamped rectangular camera bar.

The vertical alignment of the LiDAR scanner and the LED flash now resides on the right side of the camera setup.

Anticipated iOS 19 updates are set to revamp the Camera app, integrating a visionOS-inspired aesthetic with new translucent user interfaces.

The iPhone 17 Pro series is poised for notable enhancements across various aspects such as performance, display quality, camera capabilities, and overall design aesthetics. With several renderings circulating online, a recent leak of a protective cover has unveiled potential visual updates for the iPhone 17 Pro’s camera bar.

The leak indicates that while the iPhone 17 Pro will retain the reliable triple-camera setup from the iPhone 16 Pro, it will introduce a new camera bar featuring rounded corners and a distinct rectangular shape. Earlier speculations from a YouTube channel called Front Page Tech had hinted at this fresh camera bar design being included in the iPhone 17 Pro series.

Furthermore, the leak suggests that both the LiDAR scanner and the LED flash have been repositioned to become vertically aligned on the right side of the camera panel, a design shift from the layout seen in the iPhone 16 Pro series. There is also word that the camera bar may be a darker hue compared to the rest of the device’s rear casing. However, it’s still uncertain if Apple is leaning towards implementing this significant change in its design philosophy.

According to insights from MacRumors, which reports on information from insider Jon Prosser, there is an expectation that the iPhone 17 Air will also feature a similar camera bar design, albeit with a more simplified single-camera setup. Prosser claimed to have observed the device up close, although he refrained from confirming whether these specs would apply to the iPhone 17 Pro Max as well.

Notably, he also mentioned that iOS 19 is geared up for a substantial redesign of the Camera app, taking cues from visionOS to introduce functionalities with translucent menus and updated buttons. Though specifics regarding the features and layout are still under wraps, Apple is anticipated to officially present the iPhone 17 lineup, which encompasses the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, in September. However, the precise launch date is yet to be disclosed.
