ToggleIt’s hard to believe that it hasn’t even been half a year since Apple unveiled the iPhone 16 series, and along with it, the release of iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence. Since then, incremental updates to iOS 18 have begun to roll out. Yet, the tech community remains unceasingly curious, eagerly searching for rumors and leaks regarding the forthcoming iOS 19. Recent discussions suggest that Apple’s next major software update could be unveiled during the WWDC 2025 event scheduled for June. It seems likely that this update will place a stronger emphasis on artificial intelligence, and below is what we currently know about iOS 19.
Ongoing discussions across digital platforms hint at the introduction of an advanced LLM (Large Language Model) powered Siri in iOS 19. This new rendition of Siri is designed to harness the power of large language models, thereby allowing for more human-like interactions, rivaling the capabilities seen in ChatGPT and Google Gemini. Moreover, the updated Siri will be seamlessly integrated with the App Intents system, which will provide enhanced control over third-party applications. Apple has consistently prioritized privacy, which will likely ensure that this proprietary AI solution maintains a higher security standard compared to alternative generative AI solutions.
However, true to Apple’s traditional approach, it appears that the LLM-powered Siri may not be available for immediate public use upon its announcement, echoing a similar pattern observed with Apple Intelligence earlier this year. According to various media outlets, the ongoing commitments towards advancing iOS 18 may lead to a postponement of several iOS 19 features to later updates, such as iOS 19.4, anticipated for the year 2026.
iOS 19 is projected to support all devices currently compatible with iOS 18. This compatibility range is expected to include models from the iPhone XR and XS up to the latest iPhone 16 series, as well as the 2nd and 3rd-generation iPhone SE. However, certain advanced functionalities may remain exclusive to newer hardware models.
In terms of timing, as mentioned earlier, the official announcement of iOS 19 could take place during the WWDC event in June 2025. A public beta version is anticipated to become available in July, with the final version likely aligning its release with the launch of the iPhone 17 series.
