ToggleIn a much-anticipated reveal at the Galaxy Unpacked Event 2025, Samsung introduced its newest flagship device, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. Despite the excitement surrounding its release, many fans voiced their disappointment as the launch offered few groundbreaking innovations. Compared to its predecessor, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, the S25 Ultra presents only minor advancements. Adding to this sentiment is the price increase from last year’s model. Let’s delve into a comparison of these two devices to explore what’s different and what new features the Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts.
Before jumping into a detailed comparison of specifications, let’s first discuss the design modifications. One of the most notable changes is the departure from the traditional curved edges seen in the Galaxy S24 Ultra. This year, the S25 Ultra opts for a flat-edge design. Weighing in at 218 grams, it is noticeably lighter than the S24 Ultra, which weighs 232 grams. Additionally, the S25 Ultra is thinner, offering a sleeker profile. Both devices are constructed with titanium frames, bringing durability to the forefront. Notably, the S25 Ultra introduces the Armor 2 protection, enhancing the already sturdy Gorilla Armor present in its predecessor.
When it comes to the display, not much has altered. Both the Galaxy S25 Ultra and the S24 Ultra feature a remarkable 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display that supports a 120Hz refresh rate. However, the S25 Ultra brings forth ProScaler technology, which Samsung claims increases the sharpness of images and videos by up to 40%.
This year’s model is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, which promises a substantial performance boost—40% in NPU performance, 37% in CPU performance, and a 30% jump in GPU performance over the S24 Ultra’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. This significant upgrade enhances on-device AI capabilities, enabling features like Generative Edit and improved low-light image processing.
On the camera front, the S25 Ultra introduces a substantial upgrade to its ultrawide camera, which now features a remarkable 50-megapixel sensor compared to the previous 12-megapixel sensor found in the S24 Ultra. Furthermore, it includes a 50MP telephoto lens that offers 5x optical zoom. While retaining the impressive 200MP main camera, the new model also introduces 10-bit HDR video recording as a default option, along with the innovative Audio Eraser feature designed to eliminate background noise.
Both devices come equipped with a robust 5,000mAh battery, supporting 45W fast charging capabilities, ensuring substantial usage without frequent recharging.
The entry-level variant of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is priced at ₹1,29,999, while the previous Galaxy S24 Ultra can currently be found for ₹1,21,999 for its base model. It’s worth noting that the S24 Ultra was originally launched at a higher price of ₹1,34,999 last year.
