In August 2024, Google introduced its long-awaited Pixel 9 series, launching four devices: the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Now, just a couple of months post-launch, the tech giant is preparing to enhance its lineup with a more budget-friendly model known as the Pixel 9a. Historically, Google’s ‘a’ series has typically been unveiled at the Google I/O event in May, but intriguing reports suggest that this time around, the release might occur earlier, specifically on March 26.

Notable renders, recently leaked by renowned industry insider Evan Blass, showcase the Pixel 9a in a striking new purple color variant named Iris, alongside established shades such as black, off-white, and coral. The design bears a resemblance to the Samsung Galaxy S25 series, featuring smoother edges and subtle curves that enhance its aesthetic appeal. A key aspect of its design is anticipated to be a minimized camera bump, veering away from the traditional bar-style module found in previous Pixel iterations. This reduced bump is plausible due to the Pixel 9a’s thicker build, which is likely designed to accommodate a larger battery and upgraded internal camera sensors.

The Pixel 9a is predicted to sport a vibrant 6.28-inch display, promising a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate for smooth visuals and an impressive peak brightness of 2,700 nits, making it adept for various lighting conditions. Powering this device is expected to be Google’s in-house Tensor G4 chipset, paired with a smooth 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM, offering configurations of either 128GB or 256GB of quick UFS 3.1 storage. Users can expect the smartphone to ship with the latest Android 15 out-of-the-box, along with a promise of an impressive seven years of software and security updates, ensuring longevity for its users.

Moving on to its camera capabilities, the Pixel 9a is rumored to feature a powerful 48-megapixel primary sensor, complemented by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide lens that will allow for expansive photography. Selfie enthusiasts will be pleased with the inclusion of a 13-megapixel front camera, ensuring top-notch quality for self-portraits and video calls. Additionally, the device is expected to house a robust 5,100mAh battery that should easily support all-day usage without frequent recharges.

Expected Pricing for Google Pixel 9a

As for pricing, reports speculate that the Pixel 9a will commence at €499 for the base model featuring 128GB of storage, which converts to approximately Rs 46,000. Meanwhile, the 256GB variant is projected to retail for around €599, roughly Rs 55,000.
