Xiaomi has made a significant mark in the mobile phone industry by officially launching its flagship Xiaomi 15 Series at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, held in Barcelona. This announcement follows the series’ initial debut in China just a week prior. The lineup includes two prominent models—Xiaomi 15 Ultra and Xiaomi 15—both equipped with Leica-tuned cameras, advanced Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processors, and the innovative Xiaomi HyperOS 2. The company disclosed that these models would be available in India starting March 11.

The standout feature of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is its expansive 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display, which delivers a stunning resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels and a maximum brightness of 3200 nits. The display supports a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 1Hz to 120Hz, along with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision for an immersive viewing experience.

In terms of photography, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra sets itself apart with an enhanced quad-camera setup utilizing Leica Summilux optics. The camera features include:

  • 50MP primary camera with a large 1-inch Sony LYT-900 sensor
  • 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 14mm lens
  • 50MP 3x floating telephoto lens that also supports 10cm macro photography
  • 200MP periscope telephoto camera offering 4.3x optical zoom

This flagship model marks a technological milestone as the first Android smartphone recognized as an ACES (Academy Color Encoding System) Product Partner, ensuring remarkable color accuracy for videography enthusiasts. It boasts the capability to record 4K video at 120fps and supports 10-bit Log recording across all cameras.

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor complemented by 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM. It includes a robust cooling system and a sizable 5410mAh battery that supports rapid charging at 90W via wired and 80W wirelessly.

For its aesthetics, this model sports aerospace-grade fiberglass and offers finishes in either PU leather or glass, encased in Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass 2.0 for enhanced protection. Consumers can choose from three eye-catching color options: Chrome Silver, Black, and White.

Additionally, Xiaomi will be releasing the Xiaomi 15 Ultra Photography Kit Legend Edition, which includes practical accessories such as a detachable shutter button, thumb rest, a 67mm filter adapter ring, and an integrated 2000mAh battery to facilitate extended photography sessions.

Both devices operate on Xiaomi HyperOS 2, which incorporates a range of AI-driven tools, including AI Writing, AI Speech Recognition, AI Image Enhancement, and AI Film capabilities.

The Xiaomi 15 is designed for users seeking a more compact yet powerful phone. It features a 6.36-inch AMOLED display that maintains an impressive brightness peak of 3200 nits. With narrow bezels measuring just 1.38mm and an overall thickness of 8.1mm, this phone is perfect for one-handed usage.

The camera system on the Xiaomi 15 includes:

  • 50MP primary camera powered by a Light Hunter 900 sensor
  • 50MP ultra-wide camera with a 14mm focal length
  • 50MP 2.6x telephoto lens that also supports 10cm macro photography

This smartphone is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor like its Ultra counterpart, but with a slightly lower 12GB RAM configuration. It houses a 5240mAh battery that offers fast charging at 90W for wired and 50W for wireless options.

The design features an aviation-grade aluminum frame, deviating from the Ultra’s luxurious feel to present a more conventional aesthetic. The Xiaomi 15 will be available in a variety of colors including Black, White, Green, and a special Liquid Silver option.

Pricing & Availability

The starting price for the Xiaomi 15 is set at €999 (approximately ₹90,684) for the version with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. On the flip side, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra begins at €1,499 (approximately ₹1,36,296) for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage model.

Both smartphones are slated for release in India on March 11. Xiaomi India has indicated that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra will be exclusively available in the Silver Chrome color with a 16GB + 512GB configuration, while the Xiaomi 15 will be accessible in Black, White, and Green.
