ToggleAt the recent Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, HMD Global, the well-known Finnish smartphone manufacturer, unveiled an impressive range of new devices. This includes the HMD Fusion X1, a smartphone tailored for teenagers equipped with robust parental controls; the HMD Barça 3210 and Barça Fusion, two feature phones developed in collaboration with FC Barcelona; and the Amped Buds, remarkable earbuds that come with a unique wireless charging case capable of powering smartphones. Below is a comprehensive overview of the exciting announcements from HMD.
Let’s kick things off with the HMD Fusion X1, which represents HMD’s inaugural smartphone aimed specifically at younger users, developed in partnership with Xplora. This innovative device includes important parental controls, ensuring a safe user experience. Notably, it starts without pre-installed social media apps, enabling a more focused usage free from the pressures of social networking. Parents can monitor their children’s whereabouts by employing location tracking that includes customizable safety zones. These parental control features are available through a subscription service beginning at just €4.99 per month. Moreover, the HMD Fusion X1 employs on-device AI through a collaboration with SafeToNet to automatically filter out harmful content before it ever reaches the user.
In terms of specifications, the Fusion X1 boasts a vibrant 6.56-inch HD display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate for an enhanced visual experience. It operates on the efficient Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, with options for up to 8GB of RAM. The smartphone is power-packed with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W charging capabilities. When it comes to photography, the Fusion X1 features a superior 108MP primary camera along with a 2MP secondary camera, and a remarkable 50MP front-facing camera perfect for selfies.
Next up are the newly unveiled feature phones from HMD that pay homage to the iconic FC Barcelona. The HMD Barça 3210 stands out with its fun elements, including hidden messages from popular players, custom Barça wallpapers, and a nostalgic version of the classic game Snake. This model supports 4G connectivity and maintains a single camera setup, while also being designed for long-lasting battery use.
The HMD Barça Fusion, on the other hand, is embellished with signatures from 11 star players from the team. It uniquely incorporates detox mode designed to help users manage their screen time effectively. Additionally, this model is equipped with a wake-up call feature, where fans can wake up to messages from their favorite players, such as Lewandowski and Gavi. This device appears to share many features with the Fusion X1, but with an exciting FC Barcelona theme.
In another exciting development, HMD introduced the Amped Buds, which are being billed as the world’s first wireless earbuds that come with a 1600mAh charging case. This case not only charges the earbuds but can also serve as a power source for smartphones that support wireless charging technology. With features like Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC), and customizable equalizer settings accessible via an app, the Amped Buds are poised to enhance the listening experience significantly.
Moving on to HMD’s feature phones, the company also revealed the HMD 130 and 150 Music series, both of which come equipped with FM radio, Bluetooth 5.0, and impressive battery life that can last up to a month on standby. The HMD 2660 Flip is designed with user-friendly physical buttons, a mirror finish, and a 2.8-inch large display for easier usability.
Ravi Kunwar, VP and CEO of HMD India and APAC, mentioned, “Our commitment to prioritizing human needs in mobile technology continues to fuel our innovation. The Indian market has shown remarkable enthusiasm for our vision of advancing technology that values digital well-being while providing meaningful experiences. This is perfectly exemplified in the upcoming launch of our HMD 130 and 150 Music phones in India, which blend nostalgic aesthetics with practical features that Indian consumers greatly appreciate.”
