Following the recent launch of the Pixel 9 smartphone, Google is now preparing to introduce another device into its lineup: the more budget-friendly Pixel 9a. Although the tech powerhouse has yet to confirm the launch officially, indications suggest that we may see the device debut in March. As anticipation builds, numerous rumors and leaks have emerged, providing insights into what specs and features may be included in the Pixel 9a. For those who have been eagerly awaiting this release, here’s a comprehensive overview of what you can expect from the Pixel 9a.
When it comes to design, the Pixel 9a is likely to sport a flat rear camera module, marking a shift from the prominent visor-like camera housing of the Pixel 8a. Its dimensions are expected to be 154 x 73 x 8.9mm, slightly larger than the previous model, ostensibly to accommodate a larger battery. Recent leaks suggest that the Pixel 9a will be available in four colors that align with the aesthetics of the Pixel 9 series: Iris, Obsidian, Peony, and Porcelain. Additionally, the phone is rumored to include an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, adding to its durability.
According to credible sources, the Pixel 9a will utilize Google’s Tensor G4 SoC, designed to enhance its computational capabilities. This will be complemented by a Titan M2 security chip, offering an added layer of data protection. In contrast to the Pixel 9 series, it is expected that the Pixel 9a will be shipped with Android 15 right out of the box, enabling users to take advantage of the latest software features immediately.
On the photography front, the Pixel 9a is expected to be equipped with a dual-camera configuration, featuring a primary 48-megapixel sensor, alongside a 13-megapixel ultra-wide sensor powered by the Sony IMX712 technology. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera is also expected to include a 13-megapixel sensor for high-quality selfies, ensuring users can capture stunning photos and videos.
Battery life is also set to improve, with an anticipated capacity of 5,100mAh, which would make it the largest battery seen in a Pixel device to date. While charging speeds are expected to remain consistent with the Pixel 8a, users can still anticipate wired charging at 23W and wireless charging at 7.5W.
As for pricing, reports indicate that pre-orders for the Pixel 9a could commence on March 19, with widespread availability beginning on March 26. The anticipated price point stands at around $499, translating to roughly ₹42,000 for the model featuring 128GB of storage.
