According to a recent report by The Information, Instagram plans to provide financial remuneration of up to $50,000 per month to creators who commit to posting their Reels solely on its platform before they expand their reach to other apps like TikTok. Cohen mentioned that TikTok creators could earn up to $5,000 over a span of three months by sharing Reels on both Facebook and Instagram. She also pointed out, “In the upcoming months, we’ll be looking to offer additional content agreements to TikTok creators to foster and expand their communities on both Instagram and Facebook.”

This is not the first instance of Meta seeking to lure creators from TikTok; back in 2021, the company launched a Reels bonus program aimed at rewarding creators. However, reports indicated a significant drop in payments over time, culminating in the program’s discontinuation in 2023. Nevertheless, Instagram appears resolute in its approach to attract creators through compelling financial incentives.
The timing of this initiative couldn’t be more pertinent. TikTok is currently mired in controversies in the US, with a proposed law mandating that the app either divest its ownership or face potential prohibition.
