At the Zero1 Awards, Rajeev Chandrasekhar joked about Digit potentially inspiring Nvidia’s AI supercomputer.

“I’m unsure whether you at Digit spurred Jensen Huang (CEO of Nvidia) or if it was the reverse, but at the Las Vegas CES 2025, he unveiled a desktop AI computer named Digits,” Chandrasekhar remarked.

He also emphasized the significant advancements made by India in the field of electronics and technology.

Last night, Digit celebrated the prestigious Zero1 Awards, honoring the finest tech gadgets of 2024. Renowned for its stringent performance evaluation, the Digit Zero1 Awards has been acknowledging top-tier products for over two decades. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including the Former Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

During his address, Chandrasekhar made a light-hearted comment suggesting that Digit may have been an inspiration for Nvidia’s new AI supercomputer called ‘Digits’. “I’m not quite sure if you at Digit influenced Jensen Huang or if it came the other way around, but at the Las Vegas CES 2025, he introduced a desktop AI system called Digits…. So perhaps you can claim a bit of credit for sparking his idea, and if you do, congratulations are in order,” he said with a smile.

In addition, Chandrasekhar praised the impressive strides that India has taken in the electronics and technology sectors over the years. He reminisced about a time merely a decade ago when electronics manufacturing in India was primarily about local brands designing products abroad while relying on Chinese manufacturing. “For the first time in the last 3-4 years, not only are we witnessing notable Indian brands and various global brands being produced here, but we are also observing the trend of these products being designed specifically for Indian manufacturing,” he emphasized.

Chandrasekhar identified three essential trends currently influencing the industry landscape. The first is the rapid digitization of products across various fields, propelled by advancements in AI technology. “Even sectors typically not associated with electronics, such as agriculture and farming, are gradually transitioning into digital realms,” he observed, predicting an increase in robust, intelligent devices tailored for emerging markets.

The second trend he highlighted was India’s evolving role in global electronics value chains, a shift that has been catalyzed by the “China Plus One” strategy following the COVID-19 pandemic. “It’s evident that India has a vast opportunity in this space, and the brands and companies operating here are set for consistent growth,” he assured.

Lastly, he shed light on how AI is revolutionizing product innovation within the tech industry. “Highly intelligent products are poised to fundamentally rewrite the traditional frameworks of automotive, industrial, consumer technology, and computing,” he elaborated. Closing his keynote address, he described the electronics and tech sectors as “the most thrilling industry to be a part of right now.”

The Digit Zero1 Awards are determined through a meticulous testing process which evaluates products on over 100 different parameters to identify the leading performers within each category.
