ToggleThe OnePlus Open 2 is generating buzz as it approaches its anticipated release, with expectations that it will become the thinnest foldable smartphone in the market. The OnePlus Open was previously rebranded from the Oppo Find N3 before being launched globally last year. Looking ahead, there’s speculation surrounding the Oppo Find N5, which is slated for a launch in China this February. If history serves as a guide, the OnePlus Open 2 could be unveiled to global audiences shortly afterward.
Currently reigning as the slimmest foldable smartphone available in India is the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. Should OnePlus release the Open 2 with a sleek design, it would position itself directly against Vivo. Let’s delve into some of the other information that has emerged regarding the OnePlus Open 2.
According to Pete Lau, the Chief Product Officer at Oppo and CEO of OnePlus, an image was shared displaying the Oppo Find N5 placed alongside a pencil. His claims suggest that the device is even slimmer than a standard pencil. Early reports hint at dimensions around 4mm when unfolded, and less than 10mm when folded. If these dimensions hold true, the OnePlus Open 2, inspired by the Find N5, would directly compete with other leading foldable offerings such as the Honor Magic V3 and Vivo X Fold 3 Pro.
Rumors imply that the OnePlus Open 2 will inherit many features from its predecessor while possibly introducing larger display options: a stunning 8-inch internal foldable panel and a 6.4-inch outer screen. Additionally, some speculations suggest that the Oppo Find N5 may incorporate a robust titanium body along with an impressive IPX8 water and dust resistance rating.
On the performance side, the OnePlus Open 2 is expected to harness the power of the cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. Prospective imaging capabilities may include a triple-camera configuration: a 50-megapixel primary camera, accompanied by an ultra-wide sensor and a telephoto lens. Powering all these features would be a substantial 6,000mAh battery, boasting fast charging capabilities up to 100W via wired connections and 50W through wireless charging methods.
Initial reports hinted at a potential launch of the OnePlus Open 2 being postponed until late 2025. However, if the Oppo Find N5 debuts in February, it implies that the global unveiling of the OnePlus Open 2 could very well occur by spring or perhaps in the early summer months.
